How do you start your video campaign for higher YouTube rankings?

This is what I do 

1) COLLECTING A BUCKET OF KEYWORDS

Tools I use for this; Keyword planner (to look for the seed Keyword)
Google/Youtube auto complete search bars(Urbersuggest will make this easy)
Google/Youtube Trends ( Be informed on what is trending on your niche)
Q&A websites( helps to get into the head of your targetted audience)

2) CREATING THE RIGHT TYPE OF VIDEO
Now the type of video will depend on what niche you are targeting so I will not go into that.
But here is a tip 
-How to Videos 
-Review videos
-Sports related type of videos
all do extremely well on youtube.

3) FOLLOWING YOUTUBE QUALITY VIDEO METRICS
Youtube uses a set of metrics to determine the quality of a video which together helps with the ranking of Youtube rankings video. This includes;

Retention views
Comments
Shares
Favorites
Subscribe

There are many tips and tricks that you can use to easily achieve these metrics.

After doing all that and you video is still not ranking then it most be a difficult keyword.For such keywords you can start adding to the above tips by building links to the video but do not over do it and try to use variation of the youtube links
